Tuesday, October 09, 2007  FirstGen: Bug fix release

The version released yesterday had a very nasty crashing bug which has now been corrected. I've updated the link in the previous news post to point to the new version.

Sunday, October 07, 2007  Robotech: FirstGen WIP released!

Finally, I'm releasing a WIP of Robotech: FirstGen because I've done almost no work on it for a long time now, and I want it to get out into the public, even if incomplete, in case I never get around to finishing it. Note that I'm not abandoning this project, but I have to be realistic and with every year (year!?) that passes the chances greatly diminish. This way at least, the folks who have been following this project will have something to see for all the waiting, patience and support that they have shown me over the years.

This is a Work In Progress (WIP): What that boils down to is that it is a copy of what I have done up to now and is more of a developer version than anything else. In other words... Expect bugs! Expect rough edges!
I have been working on this project, on my own, since 2001 and unfortunately it shows: you'll notice that some parts look quite dated while other parts will look better. Also, some stuff is the way it is because the EDGE engine couldn't do it any other way back in 2001, though now it's a different story (and hopefully I'll get around to updating that stuff).
If you find bugs please feel free to let me know: I know about a lot of them already but it's nice to compare lists :)

Anyway, without further ado, here is the temporary download link:

Friday, June 01, 2007  New App: EMUS v1.0 released
For a while I've been toying with the idea of creating an application composed of several other utilities which can come in handy for your average EDGE TC developer (and perhaps non-EDGE doomers too).

I've finally gotten around to doing it and it's called EMUS (or E.dge M.odders U.tility S.uite).
So far, the tools included are:

  • RTS-IDE
  • DDF Off-Line
  • FRT: File Renamer Utility
  • ELI: EDGE Lump Importer
  • IDT: Images DDF Tool
  • WMT: Wad Merging Tool
  • To Do List

So basically, you've got RTS Scripting, DDF editing, Wad Merging, File renaming and a bit of lump editing all in the one application.

You can check out more info about it in the Programs section (menu at the top of the page).

Downloads:
EMUS (Edge Modders Utility Suite) v1.0 (638 Kb).

Also, please note that you must have the Microsoft .Net Framework 2.0 installed to run EMUS: it's very probable that you already do, but if not then you can get it from the link above

Monday, May 14, 2007  New Official EDGE forum is On-Line!

Well, it's only taken about 5 years but the EDGE source port now has a decent forum! No more crappy Source Forge forum which had none of the most basic forum features like image posting, text formatting options, hyperlinks etc.
I invite all you EDGErs to check it out at the EDGE homepage: http://edge.sourceforge.net/phpBB2/

Saturday, May 05, 2007  Shiny new forum

Well the talk has been of forums lately, and I decided to do an upgrade of my own since I've had the same one for nearly 4 years. Not that too many people come through here anyway to appreciate it, but now we've got polls and rank systems and WYSIWYG post editors and so on.

Anyway, I think I've managed to migrate all the old posts and users to the new forum and their permissions, but if you notice anything odd then let me know. You might want to revisit your profiles and check that everything is OK too.

Hope you like it!
