Roronoa Zoro, known in the United States, Canada, and Australia as Roronoa Zolo is a fictional character in the anime and manga, One Piece.
Originally, the American version (Viz) spelled his name as "Roronoa Zoro", but it was changed to "Zolo" in chapter 50. His name was changed in the North American English versions for trademark reasons, and to match up with the dub of 4Kids Entertainment. The French and Spanish versions write Zoro's name as "Zorro". This name is also used in the German version but his backname was changed to Lorenor, mainly because it was easier to spell.
Zoro is a mighty swordsman who fights with santōryū, three japanese samurai swords (katana), and his own peculiar fighting style. Though not a samurai, he appears to maintain a certain degree of bushido, and is frequently mistaken for one.
Zoro originally was a Pirate-hunter, with ambitions of becoming the greatest swordsman in the world. However a moment of kindness landed Zoro in trouble with Helmeppo, the wimpy son of the Marine captain Axe-Hand Morgan. Zoro joined Monkey D. Luffy's crew after being saved from execution by the Navy, and is now one of Luffy's "straw-hat pirates". His dream is to be the greatest swordsman in the world, and only joined Luffy to accomplish that goal, though Luffy doesn't mind. Zoro also occasionally gets into verbal (and sometimes physical) fights with the ship's cook, Sanji. He also has an extremely bad sense of direction.
Zoro is arguably one of the strongest humans in One Piece; while most super powered heroes and villains gain power from eating one of the Devil Fruits, Zoro has gained his powers through hard work and training in his sword techniques. Zoro also has stamina enough to survive wounds strong enough to kill most normal men instantly. With his "santōryū", he has created extremely deadly attacks. Example attacks include the "Tatsumaki" (Dragon Twister in the English dub) and the "Thirty-Six Pound Cannon" (Single Sword Rising Phoenix in the English Dub, his "Seventy-Two Pound Cannon" and "One Hundred and Eight Pound Cannon" are called the Double and Triple Sword Rising Phoenix respectively in the dub), which cuts the very air to damage his opponents from afar.
Roronoa Zoro's santoryuHis three-sword-fighting-style is unique as the last sword is held by teeth. Before the sudden death of his childhood rival Kuina (Kuina was injured in the English anime, while Kuina died in the manga and Japanese version of the anime), Zoro fought with two swords but after her death, Zoro started using her sword - Wadō Ichimonji - in addition to his other two, to fulfill his promise to Kuina that one of them would be the greatest of swordsmen. Though Zoro often speaks even when using the third sword, it's unknown how he manage to speak when his mouth is clenched holding a sword. The creator of the series, Eiichiro Oda, has said that it is his heart that allows him to speak (though Oda is known for giving joke answers to fans' questions, as well as just making up answers on the spot to avoid leaving a fan's question unanswered). A better explanation is that he learned ventriloquism on his own so he can communicate even when fighting. He is usually more lazy when the Straw Hat crew isn't fighting, spending almost all of his leisure time (as in, whenever he isn't fighting or training) sleeping soundly.
Currently, Zoro's greatest defeat has been at the hands of another great swordsman, Dracule "Hawkeye" Mihawk. Zoro vowed to one day face that man again and defeat him in a duel. Until that day, he said firmly, not even Shinigami (the God of Death) can take his life away. Since his defeat he has done a lot of hard training all for the day he will face "Hawk-Eye" Mihawk again including, but not limited to: swimming in icy water; performing one-finger push-ups; and training with weight sets several feet tall.
It seems that, after every significant battle, Zoro is dripping with blood and heavily wounded. At one point, while he was trapped, he attempted to sever his own legs to escape and fight his enemies.
Throughout most of the series, Zoro is unable to cut steel with his sword, though his sword is able to go through rock. In combat against one of the soldiers of Sir Crocodile, Daz Boness a.k.a. Mr. 1 - a man who had eaten the Supa Supa no Mi (literally "Slice Slice Fruit"), which turned his body into a living steel weapon - that weakness came back to haunt him. Without being able to cut the steel that Daz Boness was forged of, none of Zoro's attacks were successful, and he was savagely defeated. But his oath absolutely forbade him to give up. So he rose up once more, bloodied from the vicious attacks he'd sustained; death was close upon him. It was in that state of near-death that he awoke - everything, from the softest feather to the toughest steel, had a "breath". This breath was the key to his victory. Sheathing the Wadou Ichimonji, the symbol of his oath, he readied himself and sought the breath of Boness' steel. His foe charged and, in that instant, Zoro struck him down with a single blow, showing that he became a stronger swordsman. Once more he sheathed the sword, and gave his thanks to his enemy.
Currently in the manga Usopp and Zoro are handcuffed together (Thanks to a mistake of Ussop) and battling both Jabura and Kaku in the attempt to acquire the key to Robins' handcuffs.
Roronoa Zoro in Sanji's clothingSide note: The "cut steel part" of his story creates a goof in the anime. In an anime-only scene where Luffy and the others encounter Fullbody and his ship, the Marines fire a cannon on the Strawhats, and Zoro cuts a shell in half. This can be explained as that the manga didn't mention that Zoro was unable to cut iron or steel. (Note: It is also possible that the shell was made of a weaker metal.)

His surname, Roronoa, comes from the real-life French pirate Fran?ois l'Ollonais. His first name is redolent of the famed swordsman Zorro. Eiichiro Oda stated that he made Zoro as a bodyguard of Buggy in earlier versions of the story; he scrapped that idea for the final version of One Piece.
Zoro tends to sleep when the crew is sailing, even through blizzards. He is usually awakened either by Nami or Sanji in a rather violent way. Zoro has an unnatural ability to get lost even in small spaces. The manga speaks of him as not having any sense for directions. Luffy often makes fun of this, despite the fact that he isn't any better. These kind of traits are often added to powerful characters, in some anime and manga, to show that they also have their oddities.
Zoro is 19 years old. His birthday is on 11/11; a slight pun considering number palindromes are called 'Zorome' in Japanese. Zoro is left-handed.
Zoro has a big scar on his chest from his duel with Mihawk. He also has scars on his ankles from the battle with Mr. 3 when he was going to cut off his legs to free himself.
Zoro's dream is to beat Mihawk, currently the strongest swordsman in the world.
Zoro's most important sword is Wado Ichimonji (Kuina's Sword, within the top 21 best swords in the world). His other two swords, obtained in Rogue Town, are Sungdai Kitetsu (A cursed sword that chose Zoro for its master) and Yubashi.
Zoro is 178 cm tall. There is also a Hong Kong group that made a fansubs of One Piece that call Zoro "Salon."

Yamato IshidaYamato Ishida is a character in the anime and manga series Digimon Adventure and Digimon Adventure 02. In the English version, he has the nickname "Matt".
Matt is a secretive loner whose Digimon partner is Gabumon. His younger brother is T.K. Takaishi whom he cares for very much. In the English-language adaptation, the two were half-brothers instead of full brothers. Matt's parents are divorced, and he and his father moved to Odaiba, where his father works at the Fuji TV Network, Inc. building. He is the bearer of the Crest of Friendship. He was voiced by Yuuto Kazama (Japan) and Michael Reisz (US).
Digimon Adventure Matt's Digivice (Blue)Matt served the role of a rival to Tai throughout the first season, which led to a large internal conflict at the end of the season as to whether or not Tai was a better older brother to T.K. than he was. He is the holder of the Crest of Friendship (友情の紋章 yūjō no monshō), which activated when Joe Kido had risked his life to save T.K. from a Veggiemon and was then being strangled by it. Matt remembered how he had treated Joe earlier for constantly making mistakes and keeping them both stuck working in a diner to pay off the bill for a meal, especially his accusation that Joe was making these mistakes on purpose. Realizing that, he also realized that he could not win his battles alone (a revelation that was finalized in his mind much later in the series) and needed the help of everyone, including Joe. Matt lived with his father, who divorced his mother a long time ago, separating him and his brother as well. He has one encounter with his mother which doesn't go well. Although T.K. was ecstatic to have his whole family together (if only for a minute), Matt refused to say much more than "Hi Mom," to her. This encounter unearths some lingering resentments in him that linger even after he returns to the Digital World.
Digimon Adventure: Our War Game Matt helped Tai and Izzy fight Diaboromon with T.K. by his side and Gabumon as MetalGarurumon. He and Tai entered the Internet unintentionally and with the help of all of the kids over the net, WarGreymon and MetalGarurumon were able to DNA Digivolve into the Royal Knight Omnimon. Omnimon was able to defeat Diaboromon and Matt and Tai returned back home.
Between Digimon Adventure and Digimon 02
Matt's Crest of FriendshipIn May 2000, Matt arrived in the Digital World and gave up his Crest power to free the Sovereigns. As a result, Gabumon lost the power to become WereGarurumon and MetalGarurumon.
On the Original Story Music and CD Drama, track 7 "Bass wo Hiki Nagara" looks at Yamato theme as well as a short story of the creation of Yamato's band. It listens to Yamato trying to decide whcih genre of music should they do "Rock, Hard Metal..." and also a name for the band. Yamato wanted to name it after Gabumon and after going though all the evolutions of his digimon partner could not finding a correct one. So he decides as Gabumon has wolf-type digievloutions the band will be "The Teenage Wolves". It also reveals that Yamato's father in his youth also used to be in a band, before he went onto being a TV reporter
Digimon 02
Matt in Season 2Matt became the vocalist and bass player for a rock band, the Teenage Wolves. He was very popular and girls were always running up to him wanting his autograph. One of his biggest fans was the older sister of Davis, June Motomiya. Some liked this comical relief for this series. But near the finale, Matt developed a relationship with Sora and there are also signs that show this like when Matt says that he should be jealous of Yuri because Sora kept talking about how Yuri was going to take them for lunch. One time when Tai felt he had let down Agumon, Matt punched him in the face to try and get him to snap out of it. Unlike in the previous season; Tai said "He needed it."
Digimon 02: Michi E No Armor Shinka During a plan to distract Boltmon via tap-dancing, Matt finally declared his feelings for Sora.
Digimon 02: Diaboromon Strikes Back Matt pretty much helped Tai defeat Diaboromon/Armageddemon, with Gabumon helping as Omnimon. Matt appeared to like dressing gothicly. However he was still good friends with Tai and the rest of the DigiDestined. There was a picture of him and Sora when they were still dating but, apparently, they had a little spat. However, as a joke in the movie, he annoyed Tai when he told Izzy she was at her Tennis Club meet by saying, "Can't you remember your own girlfriend's appointments?"
Digimon 02: Series Finale Epilogue By the year 2027, Yamato has become an astronaut and married Sora. He has a 1st born daughter with blonde hair and 2nd born son with red hair.

Roy MustangColonel Roy Mustang, the Flame Alchemist, is the man who first recognized the Elric brothers' talent and recruits Edward Elric to become a State Alchemist (Episode 3). At the time of his introduction in the anime, Mustang held the rank of Lieutenant Colonel and was stationed at Central, although he was soon transferred to the Eastern Territories to clean up Lieutenant Yoki's mess (Episode 9). He was a hero of the Ishbal War, but he remains haunted by the horrors of war and suffers great remorse for the lives he took, among whom are the parents of Winry Rockbell, a childhood friend of the Elric Brothers.
Outwardly arrogant and playfully manipulative, Mustang is a very smart character who is always one step ahead. One can see Mustang's scheming ways at work when he devises a situation to allow Edward to take the State Alchemist examination, which would have otherwise been impossible as Edward is only a child. While perceived as merely a glory hog who doggedly pursues promotions and praise, his true goal is to become F?hrer and reform the government in order to absolve his sins in the Ishbal War, along with the requirement for female officers to wear mini skirts (which considerably increased Havoc's loyalty to him). His goals are admirable enough that he earns the fierce loyalty of both Armstrong and his own subordinates, among whom are Hawkeye, Havoc, Breda, Fuery, Falman, and his good friend Maes H?ghes. While Mustang is an unapologetic womanizer who is known to steal women from Havoc, he has an unspoken but smoldering tension with his subordinate Riza Hawkeye.
When Hughes died, Mustang was devastated by his friend's death. When forced to pursue the Elrics per military orders, Mustang learns that King Bradley is a Homunculus, and tries to expose him to the top brass of military by revealing the truth about the Furhrer's secretary, Juliet Douglas (Episode 45). To counter this perceived threat against him Bradley promotes Mustang to Brigadier General in preparation for his leading troops against armies in the north. Although Bradley intends for him to die in combat, Mustang managed to sneak back into Central, making his move to avenge Hughes' death. He suceedes in killing King Bradley and narrowly survives the ordeal. He loses his left eye, and it is presumed that this injury was sustained when he was shot by automail-Archer. However, some ambiguity in the scene has since spawned the theory that Riza Hawkeye may have accidentally shot him instead (this theory does add an extra level of depth to the pair's conversation during the final episode of the series).
One of Roy Mustang's gloves in "The Ishbal Massacre".A powerful alchemist in his own right, Mustang wears gloves with transmutation circles on them that are made of a material called "pyrotex/ignition cloth" that spark when he snaps his fingers. By adjusting the oxygen content in the surrounding atmosphere through alchemy, he can create flames anywhere in the surrounding area at will and manipulate them as he desires. Amusingly, because of this, he is considered "useless" on rainy days. During the Ishbal war, Mustang wore an incomplete philosopher's stone on a ring, which increased his flame power and allowed him to destroy entire city blocks in a single blast.
In the manga, Roy tried to investigate Hughes' death in secret despite the military closing the case after convicting Maria Ross. Trusting in Ross' innocence, and with the help of Barry the Chopper, Mustang uses his alchemy skills to fake Ross' death and engineers her escape from Amestris. After discovering that King Bradley is a Homunculus, he tries to expose him to the top echelons of military, only to find out that they know his true nature but continue to support him. This move costs Mustang and deprives him of his subordinates - King Bradley places Riza Hawkeye under his command and authorizes the transfer of Mustang?s remaining personnel to the far reaches of Amestris. Additionally, the Rockbell doctors are not killed by Mustang in the manga.
