Hitching Up to a Reese Weight-Distributing Hitch with Dual Cam Sway Control

  1. attach towing mirrors
  2. raise scissor stabilizing jacks and stow their wood blocks
  3. secure ball mount with pin lock in tow vehicle's hitch receiver
  4. raise trailer tongue above anticipated level of hitch ball
  5. back up vehicle so it is aligned straight with trailer
  6. lower trailer coupler onto hitch ball and secure with lock
  7. use tongue jack to now raise back of tow vehicle several inches
  8. insert spring bars into trunnions and cam lifters
  9. set chains in snap-up brackets and lift with pipe bar
  10. secure snap-up brackets with their safety pins
  11. release weight on tongue jack and raise jack to its towing position
  12. connect safety chains, crossing them under hitch
  13. connect breakaway cable
  14. connect electrical umbilical cord and secure
  15. check lights
  16. check lug nuts on tires
  17. check tire pressure
  18. remove chocks and stow
  19. stow pipe bar, tongue jack foot pad, and wood block
  20. pull trailer forward a few feet
  21. retrieve tire levelers and stow
