Hitching Up to a Reese
Weight-Distributing Hitch with Dual Cam Sway Control
- attach towing mirrors
- raise scissor stabilizing
jacks and stow their wood blocks
- secure ball mount with pin
lock in tow vehicle's hitch receiver
- raise trailer tongue above
anticipated level of hitch ball
- back up vehicle so it is
aligned straight with trailer
- lower trailer coupler onto
hitch ball and secure with lock
- use tongue jack to now raise
back of tow vehicle several inches
- insert spring bars into
trunnions and cam lifters
- set chains in snap-up
brackets and lift with pipe bar
- secure snap-up brackets with
their safety pins
- release weight on tongue jack
and raise jack to its towing position
- connect safety chains,
crossing them under hitch
- connect breakaway cable
- connect electrical umbilical
cord and secure
- check lights
- check lug nuts on tires
- check tire pressure
- remove chocks and stow
- stow pipe bar, tongue jack
foot pad, and wood block
- pull trailer forward a few
feet
- retrieve tire levelers and
stow
