Local Kid Makes Good
(In His Dreams)
The name Old Goat and the idea of cruises sent us on a mission. One that took up valuable time and resources. So off to the tropics and beachcombing for what was to be the beginning of a saga. It is marvellous to think that the Gulf Of Carpentaria would provide the vehicle to launch a Cruise Line.
After the initial success of the MV Goat Island, it was time to turn my attention to something a little bigger. Something that would travel the world offering style and comfort. but you had to have the something to start with.
What better than a ship that had been used for target practice by the Navy, and left to rust on a deserted beach on a Pacific Island called Bali Ha'i made famous in the Rogers and Hammerstien Musical "South Pacific".
A few million dollars later, not sure how many we came up with the magnificent "swan" that you see in the last image.
